Halloween is a highlight of fall, as children and even adults anxiously await October 31. Similar to the holiday season, people often decorate their homes for Halloween, and even do so well in advance of late October to maximize the amount of time they get to enjoy the trinkets and other items.

NEWBERRY — The Newberry College Speech and Debate Team earned top honors Oct. 3–5 at the Hub City Swing Tournament, a three-day event hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi. The competition featured two separate tournaments and drew students from universities across the South, including the University of Alabama, Mississippi State University, Texas Christian University, Union University, Middle Tennessee University, and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

NEWBERRY — Each year the Newberry Rotary Club sponsors a prayer breakfast the Friday before Thanksgiving where they announce a Lay Person of the Year. The Rotary Club is seeking help in identifying those within the Newberry County area who deserve a nomination.
